OEM ipcalc

Dear xx,

you are right, the “calculation” is wrong. And not only that, it’s completely
futile. /32 routes are so-called hostroutes. They don’t have broadcast adresses, useable address range or anything else that would be worth a calculation.

The newest release of the calculator
(http://jodies.de/ipcalc-archive/ipcalc-0.38/) has support for this special
case. (And also for /31, which is again a not-so-normal calculation).

Look:

kjodies@segfault:~> ipcalc -b 192.168.0.1/32
Address: 192.168.0.1
Netmask: 255.255.255.255 = 32
Wildcard: 0.0.0.0
=>
Hostroute: 192.168.0.1
Hosts/Net: 1

Winslow Networks wants to increase the performance of Sampson’s network

Dear M.,

you don’t really expect me to answer CCNA class exercises, do you?

Greetings,

Krischan

ipcalc Mails

Thursday, March 3rd, 2005
